This year I entered the Iris Awards using my student work from my Diploma in Photography in 2024 gained at the Southern Institute of Technology.

Floral Fusion is inspired by Dutch Golden Age painter Rachel Ruysch and her painting Flowers in a Glass Vase with a Tulip. The series combines the modern form of photographic light painting with the classical dutch masters approach to painting flowers. The use of dark backgrounds, ornate vessels to hold the flowers and use of light to add depth to an image have been used to give the photographs an old world feel. ​ ​This series explores the light in the darkness.  No matter h

Flowers have inspired poets, artists and philosophers throughout history. They are symbols of strength, resilience, rebirth and death. They are here for such a fleeting moment in time and the images will capture their beauty in this moment in time and explore the fragility of life.

 Botanic Vista is an exploration of flowers creating serene abstract botanic landscapes.  Influenced by early surrealist photographers, New Zealand photographer Boyd Webb, and Surrealist painter G
